To my family in Christ,

I finally saw the last Harry Potter movie! Some of my favorite parts of the series are when the forces of good and evil reflect Christianity. I know some might find that hard to believe but H.P. has its moments. At one point in the movie someone is questioning why Harry still puts so much trust in Dumbledore even though Dumbledore never told him everything. Harry confidently replies, “I trust him.” The other character accuses him saying that is a child’s answer. However, I find Harry’s answer to be very wise. In response to John the Baptists complaints and questions to when Jesus is going to start being the messiah, Jesus says, “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor. Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me.” (Luke 7:22-23). Jesus was quoting scripture about the messiah in his answer and he was telling John that he is doing what the savior is supposed to do, it is just not how John thought it should be. Then he tells John that the people who still trust in him, though they do not fully understand, are blessed. At other parts in scripture Jesus tells us “Anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” (Mark 10:15). Remember that if you seek to understand everything first, then you will never believe. It is always faith seeking understanding.
