Our Interim Minister - Rev. Fred Banda
Following the retirement of Reverend David Fraser in February 2011 after seven years as Minister of KSCC, a Search Committee was formed to call a new full time minister. The first mission of the Committee was to locate an Interim Minister while a search for a full time minister continued. At a Congregational meeting held in mid-May 2011, the Committee recommended and nominated Reverend Fred Banda as the KSCC Interim Minister. The Congregation overwhelmingly approved the nomination.
Fred Banda is a native Texan, having been born and reared in San Antonio. He attended TCU and Brite Divinity School, and has served churches in the Bluebonnet Area, the Upper Midwest Region, the Coastal Plains Area, and retired last fall after being the Senior Minister of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Needville, TX where he currently resides. He has served on and chaired numerous district, area and regional committees. In addition, he was elected and served a term as Moderator of Christian Church in the Southwest and was a member of General Board of the Christian Church in the United States and Canada on two different occasions. Despite having spent his final 9 years of active ministry pastoring a United Church of Christ congregation, his roots are firmly planted in the Disciples of Christ.
On June 5, 2011, Reverend Fred Banda presided over the KSCC Sunday Service for the first time as our Interim Minister. We look forward to his leadership during this time of transition. Come join us in welcoming Pastor Fred to our family of faith at KSCC.
Reverend Fred Banda can be reached via his cell phone at 281-239-5185 (no text messages please) or via email at fred406@aol.com.
